Blue / grey velvet sweater - Primark
Black cold shoulder and frills jumpsuit - Topshop
Long black maxi duster coat - MissGuided
Faux patent leather high heeled boots - River Island
Round clear rose gold glasses - Vintage Kilo Sale

I love this outfit so much, it's such an easy thing to throw on and wearable just about anywhere. I felt so chic, and I love the vintage / retro twist on this.
Maxi coats and cardigans are definitely my thing, I feel like a bohemian goddess... Stevie Nicks, I feel like Stevie Nicks.    *i wish*

In Leicester there was a weigh and pay vintage clothing sale (£15 for a kilo of clothes, such a fucking bargain) so I got a few bits and bobs from there. I went to my first kilo sale in Northampton Guildhall the week before and got loads, including a gorgeous white lace vintage bohemian wedding dress. HOOKED. I'll do a haul of my treasures soon.

Just before these photos were taken I went to Zizzi's and devoured their vegan pizza. If you've never been, seriously get down there now. Best. Pizza. Ever.

Leicester is my new favourite place, I've decided.

p.s how adorable is my little sister? Jessica is deffo my style inspo always. Love her.

So if you're a vegan, you've probably heard of Zizzis and their beautiful creation that is the vegan pizza with Mozzerisela cheese. I tell you, it's Godly.

As it's Valentines on the 14th of February, my partner Karl and I visited the Zizzi chain in Market Harborough for an early little Valentines date night. (my treat, as he brought me Russell Brand tickets! what a guy!)

So we booked a table for two at 5 (yeah we really are those people who feel the need to book for 2, don't judge me haha) and asked for the vegan and allergen menu whilst being seated. It's the first page of the dietary menu, which is pretty convenient.

We ordered starters of Tuscan Potatoes and the garlic bread but we requested for the vegan cheese to be added on top of the garlic bread. Our waiter said it hasn't been done there before, but didn't see a problem with it, so... Seriously, Karl and I were in food heaven. Before going vegan we loved cheesy garlic bread.

The staff were really attentive, too. I think Zizzi's may be the first place I've eaten out and haven't been suspicious of them putting animal products in my food. I normally have to double check that my order is definitely vegan when it's placed in front of me, but there was no worry of that here.
They also add little green vegan stickers to the rustic wooden boards to let you know which dish is vegan. Super helpful if you're with a group of people who aren't vegan! (see below)

For mains, we both ordered the classic vegan Rustica pizza which is a thin and crispy base, with the infamous MozzerRisela non-dairy cheese. I added roasted red onion, field mushrooms and fresh spinach to my pizza, whilst Karl just chose cheese and tomato.

The cheese is amazing. If you've ever tried vegan cheeses such as VioLife, you'll be familiar with the coconut undertones or chemical taste of non-dairy cheese. The texture also isn't that pleasant with the majority of cruelty-free cheese, but... None of that with this cheese! Hurrah.

It's not stringy like some pizza cheese, but it's very creamy, and does taste of cheese, for sure. It is more like a liquid sauce, rather than a solid cheese, but it's not runny so don't be put off by that.

This is the most beautiful picture of a pizza in existence. I want it again now. (I had it for breakfast this morning, are you jealous? Because I'm jealous of myself right now, haha.

Zizzi restaurants are lovely inside, too. Quirky yet modern and stylish decor, illustrations on walls, birch trees centre the establishment, copper round tables and hanging vegetables, and so forth! You feel a chilled and care-free vibe from the atmosphere and staff, but the place is still 'fancy' enough for dates and such. In love with the place, I am!

They even do cocktails, which are incredible. This one is actually a 'soft tail' though, called the Very Berry. Delicious!

It was only yesterday that I visited, and I'm already planning my next trip. I love it so much, I'm so glad the vegan food is readily available in big restaurants like Zizzi's. Before Zizzi's, we went into Mercado Lounge (also a chain, Loungers & Cosy Clubs, I recommend these places, too!) who also have a vegan menu!
Times are definitely a changing, it's easier to be a vegan than what it was a few years ago, and I'm so glad more and more people are joining the revolution. Why harm animals when you can live a cruelty-free life?

What's your favourite thing to order in Zizzi's? Where else shall I go to try their vegan food? Lemme know!
Until next time,

On the 27th of January it was my 22nd Birthday, but more importantly, it was the Big Sleepout - an organised charity event for the Northampton Hope Centre, a fantastic homeless charity in my hometown.

Over 170 people took part in this event alongside my boyfriend, Karl, and I, all sleeping rough in Abington Park armed with sleeping bags, cardboard boxes and plastic sheets, which for us lot was roughing it, but is a sad reality for many, with these items that we would call rubbish, classed as a luxury for the real homeless people living on the streets every single night.

Participating in this event has made me realise just how lucky I am. I'm sitting here typing on my MacBook Pro, drinking a hot cup of tea my mother has just made me, cosied up in the corner of my bedroom wrapped in a fluffy blanket surrounded by expensive technology, soft furnishings because I like the aesthetic, a clothes rail full of clothes I won't wear ever again after that one party, and my lovely family downstairs, and so forth.
Little things that I'm sure we all take for granted on a daily basis, I know I definitely did...

The thing is, nobody chooses to be homeless. No one willingly gives these things up. Lives essentials are just ripped away from people, with no fault on their part at all. I think a lot of people fail to realise this and think that all homeless people have that lifestyle because they chose it, but that's not the case. They may have drug and alcohol addictions, and this is perhaps why people look at them like monsters and not human beings. But, there will be a reason for these addictions. Mental health problems that could have stemmed from a childhood of abuse, even being made redundant and not being able to keep up with bills with no family there for backup, and many more reasons.
It could happen to the best of us with no warning. I'm sure they never saw their future in shop doorways, begging for money just to buy a hot drink only to be thrown out of McDonald's and be judged...

I always feel for them when I'm making my way through town on the way home from my full-time job. I'll be feeling sorry for myself, tired and cold, though this is nothing compared to their daily struggle.
I slept for just one night in the cold and wet park, and I genuinely though my toes may fall off due to frostbite! I exclaimed to my partner "How do homeless people still have their toes, how?!"
I had three pairs of socks, tights, and a blanket wrapped around my feet in a sleeping bag and I was still numb in my feet.

It was a massively humbling experience, and it felt so good to raise well-needed money for a cause and charity that deserves it so much.
There is still time to donate to my Just Giving page if you like, here - https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/StephLeaMead

Or perhaps find a local homeless shelter/centre to you and donate money, clothing, food, blankets, or even give up your time and volunteer! Anything you can do or give is appreciated so much, believe me.

Here are some more links to The Northampton Hope Centre, and other homeless charities to support.

So I felt like Mary Berry yesterday when making this super easy vegan banana bread, though you know on Great British Bake Off when they just sample a small bit? Yeah, I just ate pretty much the whole thing... Oops!
Follow the recipe below to make your very own banana loaf, even if you're a beginner, it's easy peasy, and cheap too!
You'll need:
đź”˝Three bananas (the browner the better, really)
đź”˝Self-raising white flour
đź”˝White sugar
đź”˝Sunflower oil
đź”˝Cinnamon powder
đź”˝Baking power
đź”˝Optional toppings and flavourings (I used dairy free chocolate chips inside, then hazelnuts and banana chips on top)

1) Peel three whole bananas, and mush them all up with a fork in a bowl. Wrist exercise incoming! Who needs a gym?
Pre-heat your oven to 200 degrees before this!

2) Once the bananas look like baby food, add in 100g of sugar and two table spoons of baking soda, and one table spoon of cinnamon, then mix mix mix.

3) How gorgeous does that smell? Add that mixture into 225 grams of self raising flour into a mixing bowl, or do a me, and use a sauce pan, as my mixing bowl had gone astray... Same thing, right?

4) Mix those ingredients together, and add the optional vegan chocolate chips if you wish. Raisins or cherries would be amazing in this too, it'd be like a fruit cake and banana bread in one!

5) Put grease proof paper into your loaf baking tin, or grease it with dairy free butter, your choice! Then load in the yummy mixture (I ate some before putting it in because it smelt so freakin' good, this part is mandatory so... ha)

6) Add in any extras you want, I topped mine with banana chips and hazlenuts, then sprinkled even more choc chips on because chocolate is just too good to resist...
Tip, if you're putting hazelnuts on top I reccomend crushing them up first, as mine were slightly crisp once out of the oven. But hey, maybe you'd prefer them that way? Not judging... (I am)

7) Pop it into the pre-heated oven and anxiously wait for around 40 minutes. Your house will smell amazing and you'll just want to eat it ASAP, eeeek.
Keep checking up on it, if it browns in the first 15-20 mins on top, pop tin foil around it. They should brown eventually, but not that quick!

8) Take it out of the oven once done, then slice it all up and consume  the whole thing in one sitting with a nice cuppa tea.
I mean... Slice it up and share it with family, friends and colleagues, obviously...

If you make this, let me know in the comments how it went and how it tasted! I gave a slice to my sister who isn't a vegan, and she loved it! Woohoo. Vegan food does taste great, and it's pretty awesome showing people that. Perhaps next time I'll actually make some for others, haha...

What other recipes would you like to see veganised? Let me know!

YO HEY FRIENDS HOW ARE YOU I'M REALLY EXCITED ABOUT THIS POST OK SO HERE WE GO...
Black. Bath. Bomb.
And no, I don't mean slightly tinted bath water that looks quite cute and instagram worthy but is no where near enough colour so like was it worth it or no idk, I mean SHIT THE BED THAT BATH WATER IS REALLY BLACK I CAN'T SEE MY BODY THROUGH IT THIS IS SO COOL, I CAN'T BELIEVE HOW PIGMENTED THIS IS *calls over boyfriend* TAKE MORE PHOTOS OF ME LOOK AT THIS BATH BOMB HOW F**KING COOL IS THIS SHIT?! WHY DIDN'T I BUY MORE DAMN IT I CAN'T BELIEVE THIS YES MY LIFE IS COMPLETE WHY AREN'T LUSH BATH BOMBS THIS GOOD SERIOUSLY MAN STEP UP YOUR GAME HONEYS YAAAAASSS

The above is actual audio which left my mouth at bath time. My boyfriend now thinks I'm crazy. I regret nothing. I bet you think I'm over reacting? No kidding, check out the pictures below...

So first impressions out of the plastic packaging... I thought it would never turn out black, I thought a slightly tainted dark purple bath at best. The smell was amazing, it's like rose oil and baby powder.
I won't lie, I was slightly disappointed at the shape, as I wanted it to be molded into a coffin shape, or crucifix, or witches cauldron or something else related to gothic witchy stuff, but it's just the shape of the packaging. Nothing too drastic, just me being picky. Considering this is my only con throughout my whole review, that's nothing.

When I lowered the hex bomb into my bath water, I was so fascinated by how the bath bomb fizzled into the water. The colouring entwines and floats around your limbs so elegantly, and it looks like black magic (get it, cuz it's black, I'll leave, sorry...)
At first, it does look like it's final form will be purple, but it ends up being as black as anything you could imagine. Incredibly pigmented, from one inch under the water you cannot see anything, it's crazy. Look...

Even though the colour is very opaque, it doesn't stain your skin or bath. I was quite worried about this because my mother would not have been happy about a black bath, I would have been visited by the grim reaper himself that night, trust me, haha.

One bath bomb is all you need to make it this colour too, and at only £3 it is such a bargain.
Bella Muerte sell other colours as well, even glittery ones though she sells out REALLY quick so if you are planning on buying, be quick! She restocks on a Friday, and I've been trying to get my hands on a black Hex Bomb for a number of months, and I've only just managed to purchase it, so!

Here's the Hex Bomb - http://bellamuerteclothingaccessories.bigcartel.com/product/black-as-your-soul-bathbomb

p.s the bath bombs are cruelty free and vegan! And it's a small independent UK business *party*
i died it was that good, srsly. look. rip. such edgy. much goth xoxo
Did you get as excited as me? Course ya did.
See you next time girl,
